Human bodies are meant to move. Proper development of natural movement patterns not only supports a healthy body, but is also key to building a harmonious social and emotional life as well as promoting cognitive growth and spiritual
connection.
The Montessori classroom is designed to allow and encourage spontaneous movement in children throughout the school day (sitting, lying, standing, walking, climbing up and down stairs, carrying, using the toilet etc.)
Our students also spend a lot of time learning in nature and exploring their intrinsic need for movement outside through Bloom Earth related activities.
Finally, we have replaced traditional physical education classes with natural movement
classes, led by a certified MovNat educator (movnat.com).
Students learn how to safely build the natural ability and skill of their bodies in a variety of everyday situations.
