Bloom, Educating for wholeness. Imagine the Possibilities
We believe that art is necessary for the children’s education because it helps them in their intellectual, personal and social growth.
Maëlys de Rudder, director of the Performing arts school
The children will learn to sing, dance, write scripts, design costumes, make scenography and lots of more things under the supervision of highly qualified professionals who, via carefully elaborated programmes adapted to every age, stimulate and improve the development of new skills from the field of performing arts. This is not a school for passive participants because each one of them must take an active role in every aspect of creation.
Danis Tanović, head of the programme of the Performing arts school
The programme of performing arts is present in the Bloom school in Sarajevo for the last six years and based on a unique and highly personalised approach in order to ensure that the children fulfil their potentials by enjoying a relaxed, creative and multi-cultural environment.
The mission of Bloom Performing arts programme is to provide students of all ages with a supportive, cooperative environment in which to explore the fine and performing arts. We believe that the arts are an exciting and essential part of the learning process and that artistic talent is innate and waiting to be developed in every person. Performing arts programme’s main philosophy is for the children to create art by interaction with their peers, to understand and think about their roles as creative individuals. The programme is taught by professional teaching artists and is designed to strengthen language development, develop critical thinking skills as well as to promote literacy and improve learning outcomes overall. The students work on a play or a film project which culminates with a performance or a show at the end of the school year.
Our Performing arts programme is designed to encourage active participation of all students, because each individual who attends it contributes directly to parts of the creative process. Indeed, children themselves devise principal ideas for all of the plays, set design, choreography, music and other elements of theatre and filmmaking. In each of the art disciplines, students gain hands-on experience in an advanced, progressive curriculum emphasising critical thinking, interdisciplinary and multicultural learning, leadership skills, and historical context.
